LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Morehead State senior quarterback Lawson Page was on a mission Saturday, leading the Eagles to a 31-24 win over conference foe Valparaiso.
"I'm a huge competitor everytime the ball is in my hands I got to make a play," said Page. "I try my hardest, and I give it everything that I got.
Page accounting for all four of MSU's touchdowns, two passing and two rushing and a combined 424 yards.
"Being able to use my legs helps with the passing game as well," said Page.
The Shelbyville native has been one of the top dual-threat quarterbacks in all of FCS this season. Through seven games, Page has 1435 yards passing and 635 yards rushing, but which would he rather do?
"Probably the great pass, because it involves other people, but I like to run the ball too," said Page.
Page says he isn't afraid of a little contact.
"You know I like contact, getting a big hit I'll get up and be like hey good hit, and he'll look at me like what?" said Page. "It's just that competitiveness and trying to get as much as you can on every single play."
Page admits he keeps an eye on his weekly stats, but one stat stands out above the rest.
"You know the goal that I have for myself is to win out," said Page. "Do whatever I can to help these guys and help this team and these coaches to win because that's what we're all about. You know stats are cool and all, but at the end of the day I'd much rather have a win."
