Heading to Rupp Arena? Parking is about to get more challenging

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - If you're heading to Rupp Arena this fall for a University of Kentucky basketball game, be prepared for a lot of changes to the way you access the building.

The changes will be in effect for Friday's Big Blue Madness.

Due to construction at the arena and the attached Lexington Convention Center, the Manchester Street parking lot, behind Rupp, will be closed.

That means parking at the High Street lot, across the street, will be limited.

UK Athletics says other garages will be available for fans.

"It's going to be some learning on the fly," sad Guy Ramsey. "We ask our fans to be patient with us, realizing this is some exciting stuff causing this. If you have issues that you run into, we want to hear about them. Catch one of our staff on game day or email us at bbnfirst@uky.edu if you have any issues."

The renovations to Rupp Arena include new club areas that will be available starting with the 2019-2020 season, and upper-level chair-back seating will be installed in sections 211-217 and 228-234 next summer.

Due to construction, the student and media entrances have been moved to the High Street entrance. UK officials encourage fans to use the entrance on the north side of the Lexington Center, facing Triangle Park.
