BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WKYT) - The Southeastern Conference announced on Tuesday the Class of 2018 SEC Football Legends and former coach Rich Brooks was chosen to represent Kentucky.
Brooks was at UK from 2003-09 and is the only head coach in school history to lead the Wildcats to bowl games in four consecutive years. UK won three straight bowl games during that period.
UK gained a top-10 ranking under Brooks during the 2007 season, highlighted by an upset of No. 1 LSU in Lexington. UK defeated Florida State in the Music City Bowl that year.
In 2008, Brooks led the Wildcats to a win in the Liberty Bowl over East Carolina.
Brooks was named the SEC Coach of the Year in 2009.
Former Boone Co. running back Shaun Alexander was chosen as Alabama’s SEC Football Legend. Alexander, a former Kentucky Mr. Football, made a name for himself with a 291-yard effort as a Crimson Tide freshman against LSU in 1996.
Alexander was a first-team All-American as a senior, leading Bama to the 1999 SEC Championship. He left Alabama as the school’s all-time leading rusher, with 3,565 yards.
