Shannon's hat trick leads No. 14 Kentucky past EKU

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) -- Jordan Shannon notched a hat trick and No. 14 Kentucky beat Eastern Kentucky 6-3 late Friday night to improve to 19-1-1 this season.

After a 1-1 tie in the first period, Shannon scored the next three goals to give the Wildcats a 4-1 lead after the second intermission.

Mikey Liszka opened the scoring in the third to make it a 5-1 Kentucky lead and Ryan Duffy scored his second of two goals to seal a 6-3 win.

EKU and Kentucky will play again Saturday night at midnight.
