Southwestern reloads with speed and talent plus desire to win their Region
Southwestern is blessed with superb talent. However, this year the Warriors must replace Patric Edwards and his 2,000 all-purpose yards and 30 touchdowns. No problem, right?
Coach Larry French says, "But we've still got some offense of weapons out there. We've still got some people they can put the ball in the end zone."
JP Vaught can be electrifying as can running back turned quarterback Drew Sawyers, but the O-line has to come through.
Josh Williams agrees, "Since we have so much speed on the team this year, we're trying to get our offensive line to stay on their blocks and just keep our strength. That will give our skill time to make plays and get into the end zone."
Larry French knows a great deal about fishing, football, and winning. He has brought Southwestern to the region final three times in four years. It's time to play football on Thanksgiving weekend.
"Well, we want to finish a little better than what we did, you know?" French admits, "We ended up, last year, losing to Harlan in the regional finals and we didn't play well, and they played extremely well. We've got to be able to finish at the end of the year. We cannot run out of gas. We've got a find a way to be strong at the end of the season."
