Swings for Soldiers golf event raises money for wounded veterans

For the ninth straight year former Kentucky and NFL tight end Jacob Tamme has hosted the Swings for Soldiers Classic in Lexington, benefiting wounded veterans.
The golf tournament, that was held at the University Club, teams up with Homes for Our Troops to build a handicap accessible home each year for a wounded veteran.
This year's recipient is Marine Lance Corporal John Curtin of Arrington, TN. Curtin lost both legs and severely wounded his right forearm after stepping on an IED in Afghanistan.
Local celebrities, including members of the University of Kentucky football and basketball coaching staffs participated in the event.
In the first eight years of the tournament, funds have reached over $700,000. This year's event could take the nine-year total over the $1 million mark.
