Texas A&M's Fisher compares UK's Snell to an all-time great

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Texas A&M coach Jimbo Fisher has high praise for Benny Snell, Jr.

"He reminds me of the way Emmit (Smith) used to run," Fisher said on Monday.

Snell, UK's leading rusher, will lead the Wildcats into Saturday's matchup against the Aggies. It will be UK's first game against Texas A&M since 1953.

"I’ve never seen a guy who can take a one-yard run, looks like a one-yard run, and now it’s eight," Fisher said of Snell.

"He’s strong. He’s powerful. All of a sudden he breaks out. He finds space in places there aren’t spaces."

Smith is considered one of the greatest to ever play at Florida.

"Emmitt had the big plays, but Emmitt made yards on everything he did," Fisher said.

"Back in the day, when you really watched him, you’d say, 'well, they got him.' At the end of the day he’d have 25 carries for about 160. Where did that come from?"

Snell currently leads the SEC with 639 yards rushing. He's No. 2 in scoring.
