Trinity takes down Scott Co. in Sweet 16 championship

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) -- In what could be Billy Hicks' final game at Scott County, his Cardinals lost to Trinity 50-40 in Sunday's Boys' Sweet 16 championship game.

Michael Moreno scored 12 points in his final high school game and added 12 rebounds for another double-double. Diablo Stewart scored ten points and Glenn Covington hit a pair of threes.

Trinity star and Louisville signee David Johnson was the game's MVP and scored a team-high 22 points in the win.

The Cardinals are now 2-5 in state title games under Hicks. His wins came in 1998 and 2007 and his losses have come in 1999, 2012, 2014, 2018 and 2019.

If this is the end of his career, Billy Hicks will finish with 1,012 wins, two state championships and 14 region titles.
