Two killed after trucks collide

A crash on an eastern Kentucky road has left two people dead and several others injured.

The crash happened Wednesday on Highway 122 in the Hunter Community of Floyd County.

Kentucky State Police say a 2000 Dodge pickup, driven by James Slone, crossed the center line, and hit a Chevrolet pickup driven by 36-year-old Jeffery Hamilton, of McDowell.

Police say Hamilton died at the scene, as did 43-year-old Karen Mitchell, of Hi Hat, who was a passenger in Slone's truck.

Police also say passengers from both trucks were airlifted to a hospital in Tennessee to be treated for their injuries.

The accident is still under investigation.
