Lexington Vice Mayor Jim Gray says he's running for mayor in 2010.
Gray shared his intentions to run with 27 Newsfirst late Tuesday evening. His says his experience with Urban County Government since 2006, and his 31 years of experience as a businessman could benefit the city if he's elected mayor.
Three others have also announced their intentions to run for mayor among them are: Former mayor Teresa Isaac, newcomer Eric Marr, and incumbent Mayor Jim Newberry.
We asked Gray if he believed the race, would affect their ability to work together, he says no. Jim Newberry tells 27 Newsfirst he agrees. Yet, the two are already trading insults.
Earlier this evening the Lexington Herald-Leader printed a quote where Jim Gray said of Mayor Newberry, "I'm running because Jim has made some bad decisions". Hours later Mayor Jim Newberry released this statement to 27 newsfirst saying,"...the Vice Mayor has chosen the role of Monday morning quarterbacking..., Newberry added, "I have enjoyed working with coucilmembers to move Lexington forward, and am disappointed the Vice Mayor has not taken a more active role in that partnership".
