Fire officials investigating early morning barn fire in Scott County

SCOTT COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) - Fire officials are investigating after a barn caught fire in Scott County overnight.

Firefighters say it happened on Muddy Fork Road, east of Georgetown, around 1 a.m. Monday. Upon arriving to the scene, firefighters tell WKYT the barn was completely engulfed in flames. They say it didn't take long for crews to extinguish the fire, but the barn was a total loss.

According to firefighters, the family says the barn contained various farm equipment. They also say their dog may have been inside at the time, but could not confirm. Luckily, firefighters say nobody was injured during the fire.

At this time, the fire is under investigation as firefighters try to determine what caused the fire.
