The flu virus continues to spread across the Bluegrass.
State health officials now say the flu has now reached widespread activity in Kentucky, with the peak of the season yet to come.
Kentucky Health Commissioner Bill Hacker says the category was bumped up to widespread Friday.
Hacker recommends a simple way to keep from getting the flu.
"It has just reached the category of widespread," Hacker said. "It can be a problem until April or May. So I still recommend a flu vaccine for those who have not had one."
Hacker will appear on "Kentucky Newsmakers," which airs Saturday morning at 11 on WKYT.
