State police: Man fatally shot by officers after firing at them

ROCKCASTLE COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) - Kentucky State Police say officers fatally shot a man after he refused several commands to drop a gun, and then fired a round at officers.

Police were called to a residence on Dug Hill Road off US 150 in Brodhead around 9 Thursday night for a domestic dispute in Broadhead. A Kentucky State Police Vehicle Enforcement Officer, a Kentucky State Police trooper and a Rockcastle County sheriff's deputy responded. When officers arrived, they say the found Lawrence R. Price, 61, who was armed. Police said Price refused multiple verbal commands to relinquish the weapon, and then fired it in the direction of officers, who returned fire.

Price was pronounced dead by the coroner's office. No one else was injured.

Police say they are continuing to investigate.
