As if gas prices weren't high enough, Kentucky drivers will soon have to pay more taxes at the pump.
The tax rate for gasoline will go up nearly two cents per gallon on July 1st.
This is the result of a 1980 Kentucky law that ties the state's gas tax to the average wholesale price of gasoline.
According to the Herald-Leader, a recent survey showed an increase in the wholesale price, hence the tax increase.
The tax went up three-tenths of a cent in January.
