MADISON COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) - A Madison County school bus was evacuated after the rear engine caught fire Tuesday afternoon.
According to school officials, bus #223 was pulling into Kit Carson Elementary when the driver said she was having trouble steering.
The schools principal saw steam coming out of the back engine and had the bus evacuated.
The Transportation Director says the students were taken into the school to await an alternate bus to take them home.
School officials say a leak in the power steering caused a small fire to break out in the engine.
The students were transported home on a substitute bus. No one was injured.
The number of students on the bus or their grade-level was not released.
