LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - A Lexington man is recovering after being injured in a hit-and-run crash, and his car bursting into flames.

Haitham Abdin says just days ago, he was riding his motorcycle along Winchester Road when another motorist crashed into him and drove away. Abdin suffered multiple injuries that left him in a neck brace and an arm sling.

Early Tuesday morning, Abdin had another stroke of misfortune when he was driving his car on North Limestone Avenue and his brakes went out.

"I realized the brakes weren't working and the light was red, so I had to make a decision whether to take that light and run the chance of hitting something," said Abdin. "I pulled in here and threw it in park. When I jumped out, two ladies over there said, 'Your car is on fire!'"

Abdin's car was destroyed, and he said he'll have to buy a new one since he no longer has any vehicles.
