LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - The Kentucky Wildcats are putting in their appearance at SEC Media Days and coach Mark Stoops acknowledged his first three years have been an uphill battle.
"If anybody thought you were going to walk into the Kentucky job three years ago and hit a steady climb, you're crazy," said Stoops.
Stoops has named sophomore Drew Barker his starting quarterback and he feels good about going into fall camp not talking about a quarterback competition. Stoops also said he's confident that everyone is on the same page. He said it's easy to change the climate but more difficult to change the culture around a program.
"I'm proud of the culture change," said Stoops.
Kentucky's strongest position going into the fall is the defensive secondary, a position that grown steadily since his first year.
"Man, you talk about a tremendous difference," said Stoops. UK now has "superstars in the making."
