LOUISA, Ky. (WKYT) - Several students were forced off their school bus because of a large fire.
The bus caught fire around 7:30 Friday morning on U.S. 23 near McClure's Branch in Lawrence County.
Lawrence County Schools Superintendent Robbie Fletcher told WYMT that 50 students, ranging from preschool to high school, were on the bus at the time.
Fletcher said the fire started in the engine, which is at the back of the bus. The bus monitor, driver and high school students helped get everyone off the bus safely.
Fletcher said the bus driver and a couple of passing drivers that stopped were able to put out the fire with an extinguisher.
