GRAND FALLS, N.B., Canada (WKYT) - Triple Crown-winning jockey Ron Turcotte is recovering after an accident in Canada.

According to a news release on Secretariat.com, Turcotte was driving a van near his home in Grand Falls, New Brunswick on Monday when he hit a patch of ice. The van flipped onto its side and Turcotte suffered fractures to both legs. The release says a friend who was a passenger had minor injuries. Family spokesman Leonard Lusky said Turcotte was in good spirits after the crash and asked the doctor for one blue cast and one white cast to match the silk colors he wore while riding Secretariat to the Triple Crown in 1973.
