SCOTTSVILLE, Ky. (WKYT) - Kentucky State Police have made an arrest in the death of Gabriella Doolin, a 7-year-old girl who disappeared during her brother's football game in Scottsville.

Timothy Madden, 38, of Scottsville has been charged with kidnapping, rape, sodomy and murder.

Madden, who was wearing a blue "Kentucky" hoodie, was taken from the state police post in Bowling Green to a cruiser just before the news conference began. A reporter asked if he had anything to say, and Madden said, "I'm sorry for their loss, but it wasn't me."

Madden is being held in the Barren County Detention Center.

In an interview from jail, with WDRB News, Madden said he is innocent.

"Well, if they find the right person, I will come out and I will, like I said, sue everybody that's slandering my name and put me where I am at today, because I am innocent – know I am. And everybody knows me, knows I am," Madden said.

State police released the charges Friday afternoon at a news conference, but said they could not release many other details in the case.

Police searched Madden's property on Mount Carmel Church Road the night Gabbi was found. Police did not say whether they found anything during that search. They also did not say how they were led to Madden. During the news conference Friday, they said the arrest came from a tremendous amount of teamwork.

Gabriella, known as Gabbi, was found dead in a pond behind the school Nov. 14. Police have been searching for her killer ever since.

During a vigil Sunday night, thousands of people came to pray with the family. About 4,300 people live in Scottsville.

Madden is from Allen County and went to Allen County Scottsville High School. He went to high school at the same time as Gabbi Doolin's father, Brian.

Brian Doolin posted a message on his Facebook page that said: "Please justice, take over for my baby, I love her so much... This animal should not be walking and breathing... I love yalls babies too, I wish this evil could be taking off this planet. I have made plenty of mistakes and sinned in my life, but NEVER have this kind of rage entered in to my heart.... I've tried to stay strong but my baby girl was always my weakness... ‪#‎lovemybabies‬ ‪#‎lovemygabbigirl"
