"Young Eagles" take flight in Cynthiana

CYNTHIANA, Ky. (WKYT) - More than 200 children got free airplane rides at Cynthiana-Harrison County Airport Saturday. Young Eagles Day is put on by the local chapter of the Experimental Aircraft Association. Each child gets to ride in an airplane for about twenty minutes. Some of them even get to take the controls.

"It's pretty darn cool!" said 14-year-old Michael Caba. He's been coming to the annual event for a few years.

"People may call me a nerd for knowing every piece of the airplane and how an internal combustion engine works, but the joke's on them, I think!" Caba said.

Organizers say they flew children from 21 counties as well as a few from out of state.
