Calipari makes Dominican team roster cuts

UK coach John Calipari has trimmed the roster of his Dominican Republic national team.

Former Wildcat Eloy Vargas and former Louisville guard Edgar Sosa did not make the 12-man roster, which was announced by Eduardo Najri, the general manager of the Dominican national team, on Friday.

Al Horford, Jack Michael Martínez, Francisco Garcia, Eulis Baez, Josh Asselin, Ronald Ramon, Manuel Fortuna, Manuel Guzmán, Gerardo serum, Juan Coronado, Karl Towns and Amaurys Fermín will represent the DR in the 2012 Centrobasket tournament, which will be played June 18-24 in San Juan, Puerto Rico, and later in the Olympic playoff tournament in Caracas, Venezuela, July 2-8.

“It has been difficult to make cuts and pick 12 players, but this is the group that’s going to compete for a spot in London,” Najri told a Domincan website.
