LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - An officer-involved shooting is under investigation in Lexington.

It happened Wednesday morning in the 1600 block of Thirlstane Court, just outside New Circle Road in the Kenawood neighborhood.

At a Wednesday afternoon news conference, Lexington Police Chief Lawrence Weathers said officers and U.S. Marshals were trying to make contact with the suspect in a Lexington murder:

Weathers says shots were fired and the suspect was shot. It’s not yet clear who shot the suspect.

None of the officers or U.S. Marshals were hurt.

Weathers says the suspect was taken to the hospital and is stable.

The suspect’s name has not yet been released, but he is facing charges of murder and felony possesion of a firearm.

Kentucky State Police has been called in to investigate the shooting. Weathers says an officer has been placed on administrative duty, pending the outcome of the investigation, which is standard procedure.

This is a developing story.
