McConnell ‘fully engaged’ according to staff

WASHINGTON — Update: Staff for Senator Mitch McConnell has given an update on his condition.

“Senator McConnell is fully engaged with staff on Senate business and Kentucky matters and is very appreciative of the outstanding care he is receiving,” reads a release from McConnell’s office.

The senator was admitted to the hospital on Sunday, but no information has been released about why.

No details have been released about why he was admitted or his current condition.

McConnell was previously hospitalized in February after experiencing flu-like symptoms. Over the years he has had several reported falls at the Capitol, including one that kept him away from the Senate in December 2024.

McConnell, who has represented Kentucky in the U.S. Senate since 1985, is not seeking reelection.
