LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - A superintendent of a Kentucky school system is surrendering her educator certifications due to a 2021 incident.

Hazard Independent School Superintendent Sondra Combs will give up her educator certifications next summer, according to the Hazard Herald.

The newspaper reports Combs signed an agreed order with Kentucky’s Educator Standards Board, permanently surrendering her teaching and administrative certificates when they expire June 30.

The order says Combs failed to properly supervise and step in during a Hazard High School “man pageant.”

Records state the “man pageant” included male students in lingerie giving lap dances to staff and female students dressed as Hooters servers.

Combs told the Hazard Herald she believes she’s being made an example. She said she’s proud of her 34 years of service to the district.
