For years fans of Ale-8-One have been sharing their favorite things to enjoy with an ice cold Ale-8. Here are the top eight (of course!) classic Ale-8 combinations.

1. Bourbon

Considering Kentucky is the birthplace of Bourbon and Ale-8, they were truly meant to belong together. Some say that Ale-8 is their gateway to becoming an established Bourbon drinker. Whatever the reason, this simple Kentucky cocktail remains one of the best ways to enjoy two Kentucky favorites.

2. Grippos

The spices in Grippos BBQ chips are perfectly washed down with the refreshing ginger and citrus of an Ale-8. Where the fascination of an ice cold Ale-8 and the famous Cincinnati BBQ flavored potato chip started, we may never know, but we do know it is by far one of the most popular combinations!

3. Beer Cheese

No beer cheese in the world is more authentic than the kind made in Clark County, since it all started with a family recipe at Allman’s restaurant overlooking the Kentucky River. Winchester even hosts an annual festival that celebrates this snappy treat. Although there are many different varieties, eight Winchester restaurants make up the Beer Cheese Trail where you are certain to find Ale-8 along the way!

4. Ice Cream

Packaging the flavors of the Bluegrass into a sweet, creamy treat isn’t easy, but local creameries like Crank & Boom and Sav’s Chill have managed to do just that. Both of these locations have taken this combination a step further. Crank & Boom has combined their mango sorbet with the fizz of an Ale-8-One, while Sav’s Chill has gone ahead and turned Kentucky’s favorite soft drink into a delectable sorbet. In case the craving hits and you’re trying to satisfy your sweet tooth at home, a simple vanilla or sherbert float is sure to do in a pinch.

5. Mingua Beef Jerky

Just 20 minutes up the road from Ale-8 Headquarters, the folks at Mingua Beef Jerky in Paris, KY have been crafting another local favorite that makes for the perfect on-the-go pairing. Deployed service men and women brought this combination to our attention requesting Ale-8 and Mingua when overseas, to showcase their immense pride in the Bluegrass and to get a little taste of home.

6. Blue Monday

As Ruth Hunt Candy’s most famous product, it makes sense that this Kentucky gem would be paired to satisfy any sweet tooth. With a unique story behind the name, this cream pulled candy center covered in rich, dark chocolate makes for a delectable treat when paired with an ice cold Ale-8.

7. Moon Pies

On the cusp of celebrating their 100th Anniversary, this Tennessee-based snack tradition is one we Kentuckians have no hesitation sharing. Ale-8 and Moon Pies are known to bring back favorite memories of days gone by.

8. Cajun Creole

Serving up French Quarter classics in Lexington, Gumbo Ya Ya and Bourbon n’ Toulouse pair Kentucky’s Soft drink with New Orleans flavor that is hard to beat. The ginger and citrus of an Ale-8 is the perfect combination to temper the spice of gumbo, jambalaya or étouffée.
