PHOTOS: Driver crashes into Wilmore Dollar General, causing extensive damage

A driver crashed into a Dollar General location in Wilmore Saturday, causing extensive damage to the store.
Employees were still cleaning up days later after the crash left a sizable hole in the side of the structure. Tammy Green said she was standing in line at the store next door when she saw the collision. She said she immediately put down her groceries and ran over to see if everyone was OK.
“It was a mess. It was kind of like it had exploded. Stuff went everywhere. The car looked like it was under the aisle," Green said.
Wilmore fire chief Jimmy Powers said the car was all the way inside the building.
"We had to cut the tin out that was hanging so they could back the car out. They actually drove the car back out, the tow truck driver did, then they drove it home," Powers said. "There was no damage underneath, just some scratches on the side."
Green said the driver was an older woman who explained she hit her brakes but lost control of her vehicle. The Dollar General parking lot was full at the time of the wreck, but no one was injured.
The store is temporarily closed, and Dollar General is asking customers to visit one of the Nicholasville locations until the Wilmore store can reopen in about a week.
