RICHMOND, Ky. (WKYT) - Police have arrested and charged the suspect in a Richmond shooting that sent a pregnant woman to the hospital Friday morning.
Richmond police arrested and charged Tyler Gibbs in connection to the shooting of a pregnant woman.
Police were called to Fairview Avenue around 12:40 a.m. where they found the victim. People who live nearby say the woman, later identified as Kalin Burton, was shot near the parking lot of a shopping center there.
She was taken to a hospital, where police say the baby was delivered and is now in the neonatal intensive care unit. Both are expected to survive.
Officers identified Tyler Gibbs as the suspect.
According to the Madison County Detention Center's website, he was booked into jail just after 9:30 p.m. Friday.
Gibbs is charged with attempted murder, assault 1st degree, attempted fetal homicide, and a string of other charges.
One witness told WKYT she knew the man that shot the victim. She also said that police searched multiple homes in the area while investigating.
