LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - After more than three years of construction, the new Baptist Health Hamburg Campus is officially ready to serve people from all over Kentucky.

“We’re super excited. This is part of our mission to serve our community and offer another access point for our patients,” said Chris Roty, the President of Baptist Health Lexington.

Roty said this location is all about access. Right off Polo Club Boulevard, the new, and larger, $253 million outpatient medical center offers easy access from I-75 and I-64.

“Really convenient access for the community. Not only for Fayette County, but the surrounding communities, as well,” Roty said.

To put this into perspective, the Nicholasville Campus is 32-acres. This new Hamburg Campus, is close to 130-acres.

“We’ll have outpatient surgery, a cancer center, free standing emergency department, and a medical office building.”

And Roty said this is just the start. This center currently employs 300 people, and they’re still hiring. Eventually, Roty said they’ll open a hospital tower on site that will offer inpatient and outpatient care. And in a few years, he said there will be opportunities for retail spaces, with emphasis on health and wellness, to open on the campus. In the end, the goal is to employ around 700 people.

“It’s been a very organized process. Everything’s just come out of the ground here, if you will. It’s taken a team.”

The hospital will host a ribbon cutting ceremony Saturday, April 20. And it will officially open to patients Monday, April 22.
