RUSSELL COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) - A nonprofit that pushes for the separation of church and state says a Kentucky public school teacher was giving students religious assignments.

According to the Freedom from Religion Foundation, a Salem Elementary teacher was teaching students her religious beliefs. A concerned community member reported to the organization that students had assignments titled ‘God Made Me Feel Special’ and ‘Jesus is King.’

Public schools aren’t allowed to show favor, coerce or participate in religion.

The Russell County Schools superintendent says the situation has been resolved.
