Construction incident impacts sterile unit at Kentucky hospital

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - An incident has affected the central sterile unit at a Lexington hospital.

According to a release, construction crews notified leadership at the University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital of the incident this morning, which impacted some surgical operations.

In the release, UK HealthCare said that the hospital’s emergency unit and level 1 adult and pediatric trauma needs are being prioritized.

“Patients will be contacted directly regarding the status and scheduling of any elective or non-emergency procedures,” UK Healthcare said in the release.

Officials said the hospital is working to resolve the issue as quickly as possible.
