LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Former State Senator Dr. Ralph Alvarado has been projected as the winner of the Republican primary for Kentucky’s 6th Congressional District.
Alvarado faced a field that included State Rep. Ryan Dotson, businessman Greg Plucinski and Steve Shannon.
Alvarado served in the Kentucky Senate from from 2013 to 2025, a seat he resigned from to take the position of Commissioner of the Tennessee Department of Health.
Candidate Adam Perez Arquette dropped out of the race last week and endorsed Alvarado.
The winner of the General Election in November will fill the open seat left by Rep. Andy Barr, who declined to run for re-election in order to chase Kentucky’s open Senate seat.
