LANCASTER, Ky. (WKYT) - The Grande Theater in Lancaster will host a concert next Thursday, Oct. 29.

Larry Todd directs the Highway 27 North Band, which will perform songs from several decades during the show. The event is intended to introduce or reintroduce the theater to the community and beyond.

The theater is more than 100 years old and has hosted movies and nationally known music acts.

Members of the Highway 27 North Band were let go by Renfro Valley 10 years ago. The group has remained active and together since then.

“That was a blow to us, when they came in and said ‘we don’t need you no more,’” said Larry Todd, band director. “But that did not deter us from keeping on playing, and doing other things and doing our own thing.”

“It’s not really what you would call a cover band because once these songs become part of the culture, become classic, now you are participating in a cultural event, its about fellowship, one with each other,” said Kent Keller, Grande Theater.

Concert details

The Highway 27 North concert starts at 7 p.m. next Thursday at the Grande Theater on U.S. 27 in downtown Lancaster.
