Obsidian Ball raises funds for LGBTQ+ organizations
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - A masquerade ball held Friday raised money for LGBTQ+ organizations in Kentucky.
JustFundKY held the Obsidian Ball to a sold-out crowd. It was the organization’s first time holding the event.
The ball included an open bar, music and dancing.
JustFundKY started with two people who wanted to help others. The organization now raises money year-round.
The organization’s board president said the event was a success, with the community coming together to show support.
“This event is all about joy and celebration. The community has come together to rally. We had an incredible corporate sponsorship event and we’ve had more corporate sponsorships than we have ever had. People are having a great time. People have been all day begging for tickets. We sold out about three days ago,” board president Brandl Skirvin said.
JustFundKY has awarded $700,000 to more than 90 organizations across the Commonwealth.
