BREATHITT COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) - A bridge crossing the North Fork of the Kentucky River in Breathitt County is closed due to damage.
Kentucky Transportation Cabinet officials said that the bridge, located at mile marker 4 on KY 3193, will be out of commission until further notice because of damage to a brace.
The bridge was built in 1910 for use by the railroad but was converted for highway use. Despite being rehabilitated in 2015, the bridge is rated in poor condition.
Signs and barricades will be put in place to warn drivers of the closure. It is illegal to move or drive around barricades.
Transportation officials said that drivers can use KY 205 to detour around the bridge.
