Alexis Derickson
Digital Content Producer

Alexis joined the WTOC team as a Digital Content Producer in June of 2026.
Alexis graduated from the University of Georgia, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism with a minor in Business and a New Media Certificate. She also completed her Master of Arts in Journalism and Mass Communication at UGA (Go Dawgs!).
While there, Alexis served in a variety of leadership roles, including as the Communications Manager at The Red & Black, the Director of Writing at Rouge Magazine, host of The Lead podcast and as the Morris Master's Fellow with the Cox Institute for Journalism Innovation, Management & Leadership. She previously worked in digital content at 11Alive Atlanta and Fox.
From the earliest years of her life, Alexis was always passionate about reading, writing and storytelling — and she quickly knew journalism was the path she felt called to pursue. Driven by the opportunity to connect with her community and tell stories with honesty and integrity, Alexis ultimately strives to shine a light on the people and moments that matter most.
Alexis is originally from Johns Creek, Georgia. Outside of work, she loves exploring all things creative (fashion, reading, writing, design — you name it!), staying active (running, long walks, playing pickleball) and spending time with her beloved friends and family. As someone who has always loved a coastal environment and exploring new places, Alexis is thrilled to be in Savannah and see all that her new home has to offer!
