Tracy Whittymore says she and her fiancé Brandon Stanley had big plans for the first weekend in March.

“We were going to get married. The weekend it happened. We were going to get married on Saturday. He was shot on Friday,” she said.

She says Constable Bobby Smith had been trying to track Brandon Stanley down, all because he had a warrant for his arrest on a failure to appear charge.

“Bobby wanted Brandon to come and meet him, instead of coming and turning himself in to the sheriff's office. Brandon wouldn’t do it. Brandon ran from that,” Whittymore said.

Then on Friday March 4th, inside the store, police say Smith shot and killed Stanley.

“It’s hard to deal with right now. I just want to see him pay for what he has done,”Whittymore said.

According to the Laurel Count Coroner’s office, preliminary autopsy reports show that Brandon Stanley died the result of two gunshots wounds to the thorax area, or the upper chest area.

Whittymore says Brandon Stanley did have a checkered past but believes he was finally on the right track to turn his life around.

“When we were at Brandon’s layout, the preacher came over there, and said Brandon had his hands up the whole time. No reason for him to be shot and killed like this,” Whittymore said. She said that preacher was one of many inside the store when the shooting happened.

Smith told WKYT he was not able to discuss the case. He made a $50,000 bond and was never taken to jail.
