Sears' bankruptcy filing will have an impact on Kentucky, as the company is planning to close four of its stores as a result of the announcement.

The troubled company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection Monday, stating it would close another 142 stores in the process. This will result in the closure of two Kentucky Sears locations and two Kentucky Kmart locations.

Sears will still have 14 Kentucky locations as a result of the closures. The last two Kmart locations will be in Erlanger and Somerset.
