Will Trump’s executive orders impact Daniel Boone National Forest employees?
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - We are learning that President Donald Trump’s new executive orders could affect park rangers at the Daniel Boone National Forest.
The latest is a request that the United States Department of Agriculture, which oversees the forest service, provide a list of all new employees.
That request went out to many federal offices, not just the U.S. Department of Agriculture. It was issued around the same time as the letter offering federal workers deferred resignation.
This request, though, asked all agencies to provide a list of their employees on probationary periods. That means federal workers who have served less than a year at a job and, for some service appointments, less than two years.
We reached out to the USDA Forest Service to try and get some clarification. A USDA spokesperson told us the Daniel Boone National Forest has 24 employees in a probationary status. They are reviewing all executive orders, and they are going to talk about how they are implementing them as soon as possible. However, they did not provide a direct time.
There is a fear that with the federal government asking which workers have been employed the least amount of time and which would like to accept deferred resignations, that cuts could impact the 24 probationary employees at Daniel Boone. However, there are no executive orders at this time calling for cuts to the Forest Service.
