LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Students at Fayette County Public Schools have over 30 Magnet, Gifted & Talented, Career & Technical Education and specialized programs to choose from. Enrollment for the 2027-2028 school year is now underway.

The Innovation Showcase at Tates Creek High School Saturday afternoon gave families and students a chance to explore their options and meet face-to-face with program leaders. There are programs available for all grade levels in specializations like engineering, music, natural sciences and much more.

“It’s about options and opportunities,” said Vee Pryor, Program Manager at FCPS. “For some of our students, they don’t even know that these programs exist. Or they think you have to pay for them. But they are free public school programs.”

Students say the event gave them an opportunity to explore their interests.

“The best part is really talking to a whole bunch of different programs that really offer what I’m looking for, in dual credit, broadcasting, news, all that kind of stuff,” said Zion Ford, a 10th grade student at FCPS. “I’m just glad to see people who are really interested in what I’m interested in.”

For more information on available programs, you can visit the Fayette County Public Schools website.

Families have until Jan. 29 to apply.
