Since 1792, Kentucky has been electing governors, and today the state is making preparations for the inauguration of its next governor, Matt Bevin.

Preparations for next week's inauguration are fully underway. Events will begin on Monday night at 11:30 with the traditional private swearing in ceremony in the Capital Rotunda. Then Tuesday, Inauguration Day, will be filled with numerous public events starting at 8 a.m. with a worship service at Frankfort Convention Center. Ending at 7pm with the Frankfort Welcome Party and Bluegrass Festival at The Center of Kentucky History. The Frankfort Convention Center is gearing up for two events on Tuesday as well: including a public worship service at 8am, capped off with an invite only concert that night.

"It's very exciting," says Robin Antenuccci, who is the Executive Director of the Frankfort Convention Center. "They have a great committee of people that we've been working with for the past several weeks that are doing all of the planning and details we've pulled in a lot of other people with other branches of state government that are helping. So, it's really been exciting and a lot of fun."

At 4 o'clock this evening Governor Steve Beshear will be at the Center of Kentucky History to unveil his portrait as he steps out of office and a new governor steps in.

Public events on Inauguration Day include:

An Inaugural Worship Service at the Frankfort Convention Center, beginning at 8am. Tickets are needed for this event. They are free and can be found at www.inauguralworshipservice.eventbrite.com.

The Inaugural Parade, which will run along Capital Avenue, beginning at 10am.

A public swearing in ceremony at the State Capital Building, beginning at 2pm.

The Frankfort Welcome Party and Bluegrass Festival at the History of Kentucky Center, from 4-7pm.

The Inaugural Grand March at the State Capital Rotunda, beginning at 7pm.
