Governor Matt Bevin joined national manufacturing leaders at the Georgetown Toyota manufacturing facility Tuesday.

Leaders with the National Association of Manufacturers stopped in Georgetown as part of a two-week nationwide tour. One of the topics they discussed was a looming worker deficit in manufacturing positions.

Bevin and industry leaders are urging millennials, teens and their parents to look into manufacturing job prospects.

"It is so much closer to what people think of when they're playing with their personal devices and playing with video games," Bevin said, "It is amazing how that same technology is transforming everything that's made in America."

Some projections say there will be a two million worker deficit in manufacturing positions because of outdated outlooks on the industry. Part of the manufacturing problem is retiring baby boomers. It takes approximately 70-90 days to fill their positions.

Kentucky leaders say manufacturing accounts for $29.2 billion in state revenue.
