KSP identifies person killed in SKY crash
WHITLEY COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) - A McCreary County woman is dead after a head-on crash that sent six others to two hospitals in two states and involved the response of three EMS services and three air-evac helicopters.
It happened Thursday night on Highway 92 just west of Williamsburg and I-75.
State police say Marlainna D. Terry, 41, of Stearns, in McCreary County, was a front seat passenger of a 2012 Kia Sorento. She was pronounced dead by Whitley County Coroner Andy Croley. He said it was a difficult scene to work Thursday night.
“Not only me but everybody involved. It’s a very grim situation to ever pull up on,” Croley said Friday morning.
Police say the initial investigation shows that the Ford Fusion crossed the center line and collided with the Kia Sorento. Police say Tyler R. Hardison, 31, of Louisville, was behind the wheel of the Kia. He was airlifted to a Tennessee hospital.
Police say the teenaged driver of the Ford and another teenager were transported by Whitley County EMS to Baptist Regional Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Another teenager in the Ford is in critical but stable condition after being airlifted to the Tennessee hospital.
Two children in the Kia, ages 8 and 9, were airlifted to UT Med Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
All in all, police say there were 2 children and 3 teenagers hurt in the crash that blocked KY 92 for more than three hours.
Police say toxicology tests are pending on both drivers.
